In 2000 Victoria Nalongo Namisisi began Bright Kids Orphanage in hopes of making the lives better for children in Uganda. Victoria’s background prepared her for a life of service. Early in her career she served as a Presidential and Parliamentary reporter and later became Head of Administration and Logistics for the President of Uganda’s Office. It wasn’t until 2000 when she was serving as a Scout leader for the International Scouting organization when she saw that her role could be more effective if she began her own orphanage to care for the children of Uganda.
Victoria has received numerous awards for her work with Bright Kids Uganda from the Uganda government and abroad. Her accomplishments are numerous and recognize her commitment to the children of Uganda. In 2008 she was awarded the Woman Achiever’s of the Year for her community work with vulnerable children and youth. Additionally in 2006 she was a Ford Fellow and attended Columbia University for a series of workshops concerning conflict management and peace building.

Ford Motor Company -International Fellowship to attend a workshop titled: Developing Community Leaders- Leadership in a Changed World- School of International Affairs -Columbia University
Peacebuilding and Development Summer Institute at American University’s School of International Service, Washington,D.C.The institute focused on the role of the Media in Peace and Conflict and Monitoring and Evaluation of Conflict situations.
